Courierware Messenger bag, £90 (plus shipping and £20 import duty)

Tester: Andy Downes

Time tested: Four months/900 miles

What’s good? Many years ago I bought a large travel bag from this small American company and it’s been thrown around the world’s airports without a scratch. When I wanted a smaller messenger bag Courierware were top of my list. This is hand-made, tailored to my own specifications, and the quality is absolutely first-rate. I love it. The shoulder strap is comfortable, the closure is secure and the lap strap stops it moving about while riding. An email to the company will be met with advice on what suits you best as this is small company and the customer service is amazing. There are loads of different pockets and compartments for work stuff. I love it.

What’s not? Having to pay for international shipping and import duty adds costs but I was willing to pay in return for the quality. It’s not sealed against the elements for wet riding but I knew that.
